Storm Beach

The storm blew up quickly from the north west.
Clouds billowed and thickened and darkness filled the western heaven. Silence fell over the landscape. Birds flew fast seeking refuge in the bushes. Quickly the settled and they joined in the silence governing the scene.
In the distance thunder rumbled. Benign at first, almost a murmur in the distance. It slowly moved neared. The thunder cracking and bouncing off the hills. Picking up speed and rolling over land and sea blanketing both in a grey mist.
Rain fell softly at first then harder, announcing the gathering wind displaced by the down pour. It blustered around me and as if confused and it changed direction picking at my clothes like an inexperienced pick pocket. I watch it carry the rain in spirals then throwing showers of it at different angles as if seeding the ground.
And then heaven and nature started to act in unison. As if gathering its long skirt the cloud ballooned across the sky and rain squalls pockmarked my face.
Thunder filled the sky and lightning flashed from all directions. The palm trees bent solidly away from the storm as the undergrowth squabbled and argued with the ruffling wind.
Everything turned grey. The clear skied perfect landscape was turned into a dramatic wind swept, wet, dark moonscape with a dangerous beauty of its own.
It was the most exhilarating experience on Maui I have had.

Ray Absolutely gorgeous, …v…best to you! …and, I thought parasailing above a postage stamp offshore Maui was exhilarating…your backstory reminded me of the power of a good thunderstorm!
Ray Agius replied:
Nothing like a good rain storm to clear the cobwebs from the mind. I do like sunny mornings on Kailua Beach on Oahu as well. I will be there next January.
