This Felixstowe F2 was one built at the Malta Dockyards in WWI.
Being predominantly made out of wood it was built in the small boat repair section of the docks called "boathouse".
The Felixstowe F.2A was widely used as a patrol aircraft over the North Sea until the end of the war. Its excellent performance and maneuverability made it an effective and popular type, often fighting enemy patrol and fighter aircraft, as well as hunting U-boats and Zeppelins. The larger F.3, which was less popular with its crews than the more maneuverable F.2A, served in the Mediterranean as well as the North Sea.
I am first and foremost a Gemini. My feet are placed precariously in several camps and constantly and easily cross over many boundaries. My working life spanned 3 decades and embraced 3 continents. Some of my time was spent in the British Royal Navy and much of it in the International Automotive Industry.
