A late takeoff of a Short Sunderland flying boat on it's way back to Gibraltar after guiding Hawker Hurricanes to the island of Malta.
HMS Eddy was a lighter requisitioned by the Navy to help lay mines to deter attack on the Harbor.
HMS Eddy lies sunk after she in turn hit an enemy mine.
She can be still see and dived on 70 years later.

Thank you Patrick. This is part of a future exhibition of the October 1942 Pedestal Convoy to Malta. Sunderlands used to fly from Gibraltar to guide short range Spitfires flown off Aircraft Carriers for the defence of Malta. We must keep them mentally alive.:o)
